Intergrated Pest Management Plan designed to find the root causes for infestations, clean them up, treat the area, and offer an on-going management plan to treat not only the adult insects with adulticides, but also go after the larvae stage of insects with IGR's (insect growth regulators) made to prevent the larvae from ever becoming adults and breeding. This is a good choice when you are willing to make the investment into gaining control and keeping control of your lawn, and providing the barrier from your home to shield pests from entering at all.
Intergrated pest management is "not" a chemical free way of eradicating pests, instead it uses chemicals in coordination with non-chemical means of gaining control over insects by removal of the things that insect need to survive and thrive (i.e. standing water, leaf molds, rotten wood) For turf pest it uses herbicides in combination with proper irrigation watering and sprinkler repairs, fertilization programs, pre-emergents and also incorporates the use of post-emergent herbicides to help quickly gain control.
A chemical-only type program for insects will result in immediate results from insects for a limited time mostly based on weather and infestations, but it does not identify why they are there to begin with.
A chemical only type program for turf can result in good results, but if there is no communication between applicator and customer, sometimes you can have burns and actually do more harm than good. I provide as much information as possible for my customers, in fact if you are a do-it-yourself type person, I have a Free Article on weed control that describes exactly how to eradicicate your weeds and this would also be my plan of action. This information doesn't exist verbally with alot of companies, much less on paper for you to take care of yourself, people will buy these chemical anyway so you might as well know what you are doing and the risks.
